Barbecue Accessories

There are many different types of barbeque accessories that can be used to aid the cooking process or protect hands and clothing. The most important accessory is a spatula or tongs which are used to flip the food. They usually have much longer handles than typical spatulas because grills emit much more heat than interior cooking applications. This allows the food to be moved while the cook’s hands remain far away from the heat.

Barbeque accessories are designed to take abuse, resist heat, have multiple functions and be easily cleaned. This has allowed for many different combinations of tools and devices integrated into one long-handled tool. Any combination of knives, bottle openers, spatulas and brushes into one Swiss-army style tool is desirable for many barbeque chefs.

Other barbeque accessories are special seasonings, glazes and flavorings. Marinades are also great for meats, the longer the meat is soaked in juices results in more tender, flavored meat. Marinades can be made from any combination of sauces, spices and ingredients. Unique combinations often create a distinct flavor that is difficult to pinpoint. Creativity is an important part of flavoring, top that off with a clever apron and begin barbequing.
